My first profile story pitch is about my cousin, Chance Tassone. He is married with two kids, and he used to be in the Marines. He runs a craft service business and provides food for the cast and crew of movies and television shows. He has met many celebrities, and I think a recount of some interactions with them could provide entertainment value.

The main angle would be that he is the sole provider for his family, and he works long, 16-hour days. He hopes to one day stop this job and be able to work normal hours, and spend more time with his family.
Video would best capture his hectic movements as he readies a truck full of food, cooking and packing everything in. Photos of the truck and audio of him talking would tie the package together with the video. Video would be my focus.

My second story pitch is about a friend of mine, Terry Chan. He is 24 years old, and he co-owns Desu-Nation in Temple City selling Japanese anime card games, figures, and various other goods. He practically lives and breathes anime and card games, and just returned from a week-long trip to Japan where he purchased more exclusive items for his store.

The main angle would be the fact that he already runs his own business at only 24 years of age. He operated an eBay store for a while before opening an actual store, and almost all of his experience stems from that. Just about all of his free time is dedicated to running the shop.

Still photos and audio I think would work best for this to show what the store is about and hear his story. I will probably plan to focus on the audio portion, because I think that would be the most interesting.

I watched a profile called “Last minutes with ODEN” on vimeo that inspired me greatly. I didn’t know what the video was about until about half a minute in, then they show this dog and he’s looking somewhere off camera, and I’m wondering what he’s looking at. Through audio narrative and light music with simple video clips they create a beautiful story.

Storyboards will be posted as soon as they are available online.
